I am very brand conscious and like to think of myself as somewhat of a trendsetter, even in the bush.
I was however put firmly in my place by Steff`s nightime bush attire. Sadly I don`t have a pic, but man he has his finger on the cutting edge of outdoor fashion in a way that I could not hope to emulate.

Thanks to everyone for their compliments on the RR and to all who took the time to read and comment, much appreciated!!

Thank you to the Specialised Adventures team - We have all thanked Hardy and he obviously he does a lot behind the scenes to make this happen, but let me tell you, he has an absolutely amazing team behind him. These guys worked their fingers to the bone to make sure we were fed, had our luggage, could fill our tanks etc...........

A heartfelt thank you to Chantal Burger, Gene De Kock, Bernadine Van Niekerk, Willie Venter, Mark McIntyre, Gary Webber, Janco Breytenbach and  Steff Pretorius

What is the timeframe necessary for these trips? a day to get to Windhoek, a day back and 12 days on the trip? iow 2 weeks leave?

In small groups you could cover a lot more ground but that defeats the purpose. Also the areas are vast and extremely remote. An issue here like you had on RTH can be catastrophic, possibly fatal. Don’t just gun it up and through without proper planning and contingency. That’s just asking for ****

This RR is progressing fast.

Agreed Dwerg. The reason for me asking is because of my very limited time availability. So its kind of a case of making it shorter or staying home. I guess I will start a thread someday on getting the most bang-for-your-time trip planning in that area.
My wife threw a fit yesterday when I started procedures on getting to go on this trip (she is also an outdoors person)
So now it seems I will be getting a 4x4 first...the cost of going on this trip will be HUGE!

worth it!

Canz baie dankie vir die moeite om die RR te post. :thumleft:
Regtig besonderse fotos en dit het mens aan die droom gesit vir so n trip.

Molten - Why not let her jump in the Cruisers with the girls, while you ride your bike. All the girls are 4x4 instructors and she will really enjoy it.
You will not be bothered during the day whilst riding, and still get your feet rubbed at night :ricky:

The plot thickens. I have a 3 and a 2 year old as well.

Noneking this was an exceptional RR. I really enjoyed it, but more than that, it was inspiring as well. I have written some RRs (not as good as this) so realise how much effort this must have taken. Well done.

Guys and girls

We still have plenty space for the September trip.
It is a good time to go, as the mosquitoes are gone, and the tourists too.
Check in at the "Planning a ride" thread and let us know if you are keen.

Cheers
Hardy

'n Backup voertuig moet darem bietjie pak plek hê en 'n bike kan laai  :pot:

As dit nie vir werk was nie het ek sommer September en April saam gegaan

Thanks for an awesome ride report guys. Enjoyed every moment! The photos told an epic story and lots of them brought back fond memories. For everyone reading this RR, make a plan and go do this trip! It is truly something special and will stay with you for the rest of your life.

I am going to offer this option to my wife as well - what are the costs for the passenger-in-a-4x4 option?

Hey M0lt3n, ek en jy het die dieselfde probleem.  My 2 en 3 jarige dogtertjies sal nie vi rmamma los om in die 4x4 saam te ry nie.  Myne sal haar bike wil saamvat en ook stukkies ry...
