The Baragwanath and Lewis Family graves/plaques

I noticed some smoke from a veld fire just behind the koppie where the graves are. The rest of the group were still down at the sire where Thomas' bike was repaired. I walked around the Koppie to see where the smoke was coming from. A veld fire was fast approaching and I was concerned that the other would not be able to join us from where they were looking for Liesl's phone.

I waited at the turnoff to the grave site for a little while longer, but the fire came closer and closer and it was also getting quite loud in the trees below the spot where I was parked

I started heading back down to go look for Liesl and the rest, but as I went over the crest, I could see that they were now behind the fire which had progressed quite quickly and crossed the little jeep track they had to follow.

The riders waited for the flames to thin out a bit before riding through it ala Boswell Wilkie circus

From there it was off through the Friday afternoon traffic to [member=24722]malmens gerrit[/member] 's Oppi Oewer, where we were booked to stay for the weekend. Gerrit was also tasked with taking us on a challenging ride through the Wolkberg Reserve the following day

We had a great meal and some drinks at Oppi Oewer and the next morning after breakfast we headed out with Gerrit towards the Wolkberg Reserve.

I knew we were in for a nice challenging ride!

The climb through Komatiland forestry was rutted and rocky with plenty switchbacks and step ups..... just the way we like it. Unfortunately no one took pics of this epic climb..... there may or may not have been some racing going on.....[emoji48]

The views from the top were well worth it.
