RESPECT!!!

Well done for not giving up.

I'm reminded of 1 Cor 10:13, with the trouble, He has made a way out. We just have to find it.

That was the coolest story I've read in a looong, Thanks for writing it :thumleft:

I can see in the future there will be a auntie telling one of her favorite stories. It will start with:

"I had the coolest Auntie Bri, I remember one time, it was my birthday and we had a big party on the plaas. She arrived on a motorcycle, with half a handle bar, covered in mud!...

:lol8:

:sip: Well done Mc Ri va, I must admit I was a bit worried that she would kill a sheep or ostrich and use a bone to splint the handle bar.  :spitcoffee:  :3some:

Andy 66 is known for doing things like that. Ok, it was an already dead bird.  :bueller:

congrats on breaking the renthal bars.
i have tried on a number of bikes,  and never got it right.
You only managed the gearbox

How many push ups can Ri do? All of them.
Ri makes minions cry.
Ri gargles with peanut butter.
Tough cookie that one.

The definition of adventure riding for me: grit. Grit and making do with problems en route.

A lovely read (and in part riding along; know most of the route well), thank you Ri.

great reading and pics - you certainly are a talented writer - loved the bit about a 'conniption'!!!

enjoyed your writing in the Present-tense, and boy, you do not give up easily!  :thumleft:

never seen a handlebar give up like that (not on an Adventure ride, anyways...)

Great report, great that you made the party, too, when many others would have turned back/been rescued!  :thumleft:
Chris

Great writing there Ri and an interesting story.
You sure the handle bar broke AFTER the bike fell down?......... :peepwall:

I suspect the handlebar breaking was the cause of the accident.

You are one very tough, determined motorcyclist, but, you ignored the most important part of your toolkit-a riding buddy.I will never ride long distance gravel, with no comms,on my own.

... but then I'd never ride ...  :-[

I have many riding friends and meeting more all the time, but usually no one available where/when I'm going. Agreed though, I am seriously considering a communications or tracking system to ease my family's mind.

Not giving up riding though  :ricky:

Another thread asks :-

What defines a good adventure bike rider?  THIS DOES!

Amazing Ri, big respect!  :notworthy:

Thanks [member=9835]jaybiker[/member]! You're an inspiration - if you can still ride solo at age 74, then really I have no excuse

Nou vertaan ek n vorige comment, bly jy is okay en nie ernstig seer gekry nie.
Necessity is the mother of all invention, of so sê hulle en as mens initiatief en bos mechanics meng het jy altyd n uitweg en n wen plan. Wel gedaan Ri en ek bid jou spoedige herstel toe.

It reminds me of that old movie " A funny thing happened on the way to the forum " back in the 60's.

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

I'm glad you all enjoyed the report, as always it was fun to write it  :thumleft:
