Dust Rat
Not so long ago we drowned two bikes in our group. Water crossings are handled with a little more respect, for now anyways
Looking back at Losper as this was one of the many gates we had to open
The direction of travel was not always clear. Taking a break as we decided where to go. We rode with 2 plastic bikes for a while and would soon found out why they decided to make a left.
Decisions decisions Losper said right Dustrat left. Eventually I went left and they went right.,
Judging by the looks of the grass we should have guessed that we would run into mud. This section was tricky as you needed to build up momentum but there was no grip.
Struggling up the rocks proved to be the better option.
We came through here!!!!
This bed of mud made you wish you haven't tried in the first place, because by the time you realised you were stuck it was to late to turn back. The solution 3 men per bike (2x3??)
Scenery like this makes me realize why my relationship with tar went sour.
When Losper decided to do the trip the purpose was to go to the cherry festival. Wemet some friends that took the much faster wife friendly route and ended up spending an hour or so near the food and drinks stalls.
We bailed out via gravel and tar to get to Ficksburg to get some food. The start of the journey back would be from the opposite side. The scenery was even more beautiful. Maybe the reason for this was because there were no gates.
Losper has always got another angle to look at things.
Just before this picture was taken we had yet another water crossing to negotiate(see Lospers pictures). What he failed to mention is that the water had a nasty smell, probably because higher up there is a township.
Along the river there is plenty interesting detours and we utilized them thoroughly.
