From here on we officially started with the Ben10 Eco challenge 🤟

First up was Lundean's Neck Pass. It started out as a nice gravel road, which I thought was the actual pass only to find out that all the road leading to the passes were "nice" roads until they became rocky and steep and lekka quickly!!!

Quickly after we started with Lundean's Neck Pass David had a quick down. We crossed one of the little concrete water crossings where he gave a little too much throttle in the water and wham!! he went down facing the wrong way.... speaking of wrong way... so was his finger  He had such a big fright, he grabbed it and popped it back into place without even thinking 😂

Next up was Bottelnek Pass. There were quite some commuting between the passes. Beautiful fast gravel roads with great views.

Next up, Bottelnek Pass. This pass does not have an official summit sign so we just took a random picture. The picture was so random.... I can't find it now to post it here 🤷‍♂️

EDIT: Found it...

Again, small town syndrome. We arrived maybe around half past 12. Lunch was fairly quick. Then everyone decided to end off with waffles and ice-cream. Then it all fell apart. We waited over an hour for the 8 waffles to be made. We only left Barkley East about half past three and we still had Otto du Plessis and Barkley Pass left for the day 🤦‍♂️

And the waffles was not even that good!!!!!

Again a fair amount of commuting to get to the start of Otto du Plessis Pass. We did it downwards towards Elliot (Kowa). Lekka rocky descends made us work off those waffles in no time! Otto du Plessis done!

When we finished with Otto it was starting to get late. We gunned it into Elliot for fuel and then headed up to our destination for the night, Mountain Shadow Hotel. On our way there we ticked off another pass, Barkley Pass.
The guys with the big bikes enjoyed this pass; tar pass with lots of twisties!!!! We did not take a picture on the pass the evening. The next morning we quickly went back to take a picture. I opted to pillion on the 1200gs:eek:. Never again. I realised I am not the pillion type!

Mountain Shadow Hotel is a beautiful place. Food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it to whoever wants to go there.

That's a lot of passes in one day! But it seems you got Otto nice and dry. It was a mud fest when we were there. The scenery looks so different: brown vs green. And yet it seems luck was not on your side weather-wise, if the little snippet of Baster footage is anything to go by.

That finger story is proper freaky. Glad that it was sorted while adrenaline was running high.

Yeah I was glad we had it dry, but man was it windy!!

Continue...

Sunday 11 September, Bastervoedpad Pass, Naude's Nek, TTT, Casrlisleshoek Pass

We all woke up on Sunday morning in our own double beds. I can't remember when I last woke up alone in a double bed...6 years go by so fast 😊
Slowly we start toget to know each others' routines. Rene would get up every morning at 6 to wash his bike!! crazy. Every night the youngster would Brendon would try and convince us why we needed to arrange for breakfast to be after 8. We are all starting settle into a groove as a group now.

that 701is quite photogenic I must say!!

We get served a proper breakfast!! Oh, forgot to mention, we had oxtail for supper and malva pudding with custard for dessert. The malva puddin was amazing!! It was so good, I whispered in the the waitresses ear and she brought me leftover malva pudding and custard for breakfast-dessert 🤤
The morning started good... and went south quite quickly hitting Bastervoedpad Pass!!

This was a tough one for me. Took it slow and eventually made it to the summit. The 1200gs had some clutch issues, but in the end he also lived to see another day.
