Ok, so the gravel road was tougher than I anticipated...and yes, that's me embarrassing myself by kissing the tar road. With the recent rains, there were ruts and potholes all over the place. I had to slow down in places (at times between 20 to 50 or 50 to 100 metres between) where the water ran over the road and gouged out ruts of between 20 to 50cm. I couldn't just crash through as the rear shock bottomed out (Yes Officer, the bike is a little overloaded) which was not a comfortable experience. My wife and I quickly learned which ones were the worst and stood up - this made it much better. The loose gravel on the sides and the centre of the road also made it very entertaining.

Next stop Sutherland.

Strangely,we couldn't get hold of Uber Eats (something about the area we were in) and the McDonald's staff laughed at us and put the phone down. How dare they!
Well, their loss - we had another world class top box meal  :thumleft:

Yes, it's a PINK knife, what's you gonna do about it

Welcome to Sutherland.

Very friendly people and we enjoyed our stay. We slept over two nights (passing trough on our tour and going back home). On our first visit, the weather did not play along - it was cloudy and rained in the evening. Our second attempt was better - weather was nice, clear skies and no moon. We did the Sterland Stargazing experience and found it very entertaining.

Finally we get to munch! I had the best Karoo Lamb Pancake in the Southern Hemisphere!

Some more of the local plant variety.

No garage queens here! I love it when people use their prized possessions. True Legends!

Road is interesting. Some places I have to guide the bike on the far left or far right - keeping out of the tracks made by other vehicles as the corrugations get hairy. I try and keep my speed up, but the sand/pebbles washed over the road makes it slippery.

Just a quick mileage reminder.

Road is getting gnarly. Must mention, the CST tires are coping admirably.

This made me sit up and take notice.......

2-Up on a 200, and far to go too!!

Despite the buff and pink knife, you two have my respect.

What was you average speed, say on tar, and on dirt?  What was your consumption, fuelwise?

OK, I also use a buff, to compensate for my worn-out old Airoh S4, and my shrinking 62-year old head.
