Hey Grootseun, I'm The Gentleman on the forum... Guess u know why now, ha ha! It was a pleasure to ride with u dude. Thanks for the great write up! I hope the lighty is in good shape!?

Wild Dogs bash was amazing, some of the best fun I have ever had! Can't wait for the next one!!!

P.S. I'm feeling a lot better on the 1200 now on the dirt, even loaded or with the pillion... ha ha! The boxer is the best thing ever! Still miss the Dakie a lil, though and always will! The boxer was even using less fuel thant the KLR & XT on the way back.

Jeez okes - nice pics!!!

What a lekka time we had

Sprocketbek - what camera did you use?  Jeez your pics are nice?

H

Canon EOS something or the other.

But the equipment is only half of the result.

Knowing how to get the most out of it and having a talent for taking a good photo and understanding how to get the photo to look like you picture it in your mind is what its about.

And clearly Sprocketbek has that under control.

Very cool photos!

Hey BlueBull,

Great pics man, thanks for the write up very cool! It was a great crew that we had man & a pleasure to ride with you & the lads.

Have a good trip back to Peru and catch you soon,

Cheers

He would take stunning pics with a "mik en druk" camera too!
Has a sharp eye he does.
Now that he does not work shifts anymore hopefully we will see more of his camera art :mwink:

I'm so miffed that I missed this one.

Come on. Where's all the pics? Surely this can't be all?

And my sincere apologies for the catering bugger-up on Saturday. We were dropped big time but I take full responsibility for the mess.

Stop right there! :deal: Lets not get into a debate about it...everyone rose to the occasion.... :thumleft:

Here are some of my pics:

We rode from the Cape straight up the N7 to Garies. From there we headed over to Hondeklipbaai. It rained all the way from my front door to our destination. It sucked.

Dirt road between Garies and Hondeklipbaai

At first the clay road was just mildly entertaining
sany0017c.jpg

Then it became quite humorous
sany0018kk.jpg

...until we eventually stopped laughing
sany0020bu.jpg

We eventually made it to Noup. A small bay inside DeBeer's mining concession. Noup has a couple of huts that were originally used to house diamond divers. They now cater for visitors and are quite popular in high season.

Thanks for the compliments guys, appreciated.
I used a Canon 350XT with only one lens: The 450D's 18-55 IS kit lens.
Toyed with the idea of taking another lens or 2 but decided against it.

The weather looked much better the next morning.

So we made our way from Kleinsee to Port Nolloth

After filling up with fuel we entered the Richtersveld via Lekkersing

What follows are pics of the area:

The roads are generally good with the odd sandy spot

sany0077.jpg

I have a suspicion SANParks don't know how to grade roads. They make the same mistake here as in Kalahari Transfrontier Park. They scrape so deep you can hardly see over the sides of the road

Approaching the Orange River
sany0084c.jpg

We missed the cut-off time for the border post so we had to make camp early inside SA at the end of day 2

Put the one near Wondergat on this months photocomp LS.
I will vote for it :thumleft:

Butch's bike wouldn't start. It had been giving problems since before we left. By now the batteries including his spare was almost cooked.
My little X tried to breath one last bit of life into the big KTM, to no avail
sany0092v.jpg

Eventually he found a loose fuse which allowed one last jump-start so he could follow us across the border.
sany0095.jpg

At the Nam border post we had to split up. His bike was just too unreliable to follow us up-country. He was forced to stay on the busy route and limp home. Goodbye buddy.
sany0102.jpg

His bike never made it home...

Along the Orange River we happened upon a overlanding German. What is it with Germans and Bikes?

My Bike. Love it!

Leaving my partners to pitch camp in the Gamkab River I made my way to Ausenkehr to buy provisions for the night

Lovely road

Upon my return they had erected their tents

sany0138.jpg

...but not mine. Thanks guys  ...just kidding ;) ;D
sany0140.jpg

Fark LS - stunning pics!!!  Any feedback on what was wrong with the 'ready to race but not to finish' bike?

Day 3

At the base of the cliff you can see our wee camp

At Karasburg we turned south to a town called Warmbad. We were told it was a great little resort with excellent facilities
The bungalos were rather small
sany0175h.jpg

The locals were strange ...but friendly
sany0177.jpg

The Shebeen's music was interesting...
sany0182.jpg

The nightlife... well...
