I have various (as in many, many) imperial spanners and sockets. Some have stamped “A/F’, others “BSF”, others “W”, others “BSW”, others just indented with the fractions and no lettering. It is for a 1970 A50 Royal Star. I understand that at that stage (1970) they were already quite standardised in the UK.
My problem is that with so many tools I have a space problem. I would like to put away those that I am unlikely to use or not use at all. On my bike, which of those marked tools (even the unmarked ones) would be used most commonly? Which ones should I keep ready and stored for easy usage? It is frustrating, e.g. to go through 20 smallish spanners that look like a 12mm just to find the correct one. I am used to metric and can, with metric, easily identify the correct spanner and have it ready. But I still have lots to learn about imperial.
