Einste Rammelkop Pass

DAY 3 MONDAY  -  SKURWEBERG TO NIEUWOUDVILLE

Route.
Skurweberg over Oubergpas then through the Tankwa Karoo, over Gannagapass on to Calvinia with a backroad to Nieuwoudville.

We started the day again early, greeted our friendly hosts and then it was on the road to Ouberg.

The day was again an eventful one with plenty of scenery and 2 beautiful passes.  We bought some potjiekos, enough for padkos the next day, hmmm, we ate everything that night.  The Karoo has the best meat.  We slept at a caravan park in a chalet.  Still no camping???

Tuesday it is off to Wuppertal.  You have to see this one.

Lekker!!!

Dankie vir my Windpompe.

Mev Visarend, you have a wonderful eye for photo opportunities. Thanks for some awesome shots.

Thanks for the compliment, Irish.  You do not realy need a good eye if you travel such beautiful places.  I just try to snap them.  We are so privileged.

Hey, I did not have an OFF. I had an insident where the bike just fell over.

I went through "Jupiters landing" spot in 2008,I do not think that spot ever drys up.
Hazzard and myself went through OuBerg,Tankwa and the Cedarberg on the way to the bash and never saw another rider, real solitude but beautiful.

Daai was die enigste bakkie wat ons op die dag gesien het.  Ons het bitter min mense of voertuie gesien op die hele trip deur die Karoo.  Ek laaik dit so, maar dit kan seker ook sy nadele he.

Very nice report and pictures :thumleft:, what an awesome place the Karoo is.

DAY 4 TUESDAY  -  NIEUWOUDVILLE TO SUTHERLAND

Route.
Nieuwoudville to Wuppertal via Botterkloofpass, from Wuppertal it is over the mountain to Cerderberg Oasis, then onto the turnoff to Katbakkiespass, from there I headed for the shortest route to Sutherland according to the GPS.

Let see what this day has to offer.

Koppe

Botterkloofpass, it was not a hell of a pass, but never the less still a pass.

101_0081.jpg

101_0105.jpg

Wuppertal is down in the valley, the road on the other mountain is the one we must take??

101_0126.jpg

101_0139.jpg

Wuppertal, what a pleasant little place, just don’t expect a lot.

101_0158.jpg

A small Church....

101_0167.jpg

...and the church bells.

101_0173.jpg

The other side up with Wuppertal behind us.  The road in the dinstance on the left is the one we came down with.

101_0175.jpg

This was one steep climb but what scenery.

101_0176.jpg

You climbed and climbed and climbed.

101_0217.jpg

101_02262.jpg

101_0252.jpg

101_0271.jpg

I was just settling nicely in with the steep and rocky climb, then, how the hell did the sand get here, this high up the mountain?

101_0295.jpg

101_0308.jpg

101_0310.jpg

The road up and on top of the mountain was fairly rough, but the scenery was breathtaking beautiful.  No photos can will do justice to what we saw.  For this one a huge thank you Chris, it was awesome.

It is roughly 39km from Wuppertal to Cederberg Oasis.  The oasis is down in the valley.

Cederberg Oasis

101_0619.jpg

But the kitchen is closed?

101_0623.jpg

Not to worry, a very friendly lady, Chantal, welcomed us and offered us something to eat and to drink, and this is what we got.

101_0625.jpg

We wanted to stay there for the night, but we were earlier there than expected, so we headed for Sutherland.

Leaving Cederberg Oasis behind.

101_0667.jpg

101_0671.jpg

Then it was a rollercoaster ride, up the one side of the mountain, down the other side....

Once again a very fruit full day.  This was the best so far on our trip and a must do for any adventure rider.  The route from Wuppertal to Cederberg Oasis is just magic.

We reached Sutherland after 16:00 and booked in at the Withuis.  WARNING  :  Do not visit the restaurant and please, do not befriend the barman.

Wednesday is off to Oudtshoorn via Moordenaarskaroo.

Katbakkiespas moet nog deel wees van die Sederberge.
Die Hantamberge is die reeks wat net noord van Calvinia lê.
Ek is bly julle het Wupperthal gaan doen en geniet.

Nice Vis Arend thanx for sharing.  :thumleft: Did quite a large part of the same route in April on my ace, was very memorable!
