That was f@cking awesome reading as usual MJ, well done to you and Hennie! Big respect to you guys! :eek7:

I know Tsetsi flies well having spent enough time in the Zambezi valley, I have been munched on, punctured and abused by these flies enough to know what you guys went through, they are by far the worst ******* insect that I have ever encountered. For those of you that have been bitten by Horse flies, the bite is as painful, only thing is you are being bitten the whole time, sometimes 2 to 3 at the same time, and they bite you through your shirt and clothes! Unbelievably irritating and totally uncomfortable. One thing I learned about them, is that they are attracted to certain colours, blue being their favorite colour! Lucky none of you were riding a Yami!

There, you know what I'm talking about. I do not know how to explain how bad those fuckers are. But you got it here "by far the worst ******* insect that I have ever encountered".

Ditto

You were planning on giving us some feedback on problems with the X...?

Just got back from our trip up north and on reading this RR words fail me...

x 1 - if only to learn from a general point of view and how to fix problems in remote areas. please let us have the link if the fred was already started.

MJ, Hennie - Great report, glo julle weet hoe gelukkig julle 2 is om kwaliteit riding buddies te he. Daai pontoon "trick" was onverwags.

MJ, sounds like the X was a bit of a let down, with the benefit of hindsight, what would be your preferred bike for this trip?

I second Funacide's proposal for Hall of Fame status.

:ricky: :thumleft:

As usual an excellent report. Thanks for sharing.  :drif:

I will start another thread to deal with the issues I had with the X. Suffice to say that when I go on a bike trip to another country, I want to see new and wondrous things, I want to drink beer with the locals and ride entertaining terrain. What I do not want to do, is to be making shims from Fray Bentos tins.

Nor do I want to be welding safety critical components in the bundu.

Although I must say, this tractor driven alternator welder is the sweetest welder I have ever used. Really sweet.

Nor do I want to spend hours under a hot tin roof having proper parts made up to replace the poor quality **** BMW chose to equip this bike with.

Enjoyed reading your report, MJ.

Awesome adventure.

Does Tabard or other insect repellent not discourage the tsetse flies?
They would drive me bossies.

Amazing trip and report!

WildDog should look into setting up a book with all the best ride reports. I always find it easier to read long texts in book form rather than on a PC screen. Obviously with all the pictures it might be quite costly to print though.

Print it I'll be buying :thumleft: :thumleft:
