And in Jo,burg you can ride pretty much 365 days a year.
Except yesterday.
Yesterday was THAT ONE DAY....
50mm of rain yesterday - light rain solidly for 18 hours....
:eek7:
That's great news is it not? Haven't you all been dealing with drought, or is the drought only in a portion of your beautiful country?
The wheat, barley, oats and canola crops in the coastal regions were not good at all BO.big oil said:Working on the next entry, [member=20511]Oubones[/member] :thumleft:

However it is the sheep farmers in the Eastern Cape and Northern Cap that suffers most.
Further more there is a irrigation dam near the twon of Clanwilliam that only has about 38% water in at the moment and the summer lies ahead. Dayly temps from now on is 40+ until end Feb.
This dam gives a lot of towns water and all the farms for a distance of about 150 kms along the banks of the Eliphants river. Chech it out with google earth. All the green you see will be either vineyards, potatoes, beans, tomatoes of veggies. A dear friend of mine farms in that area. They allowcated him just enough water for his 8 hectares of grapes and two hectares of seed beans. In a normal year he would have had 18 ha of beans and ten ha of tomatoes and last of the season 5 ha of squash.
None of that this year. Lots of farm workers and casual laborers been layed off.
