Instead of going big or going home, I want to toss extraneous stuff out. Riding kit, printers, old cell phones, camping chairs for bike trips, 64 different types of water bottles, CamelBak disinfectants, the 25kg of tools of which I have never ever used any of on a bike trip.

One can probably use baking soda but CamelBak mos sells the "real macoy" for an exorbitant price. We won't die if not disinfected but it helps to keep the water tasting like potable water and not putwater.

Chlorine tastes vile... 1974 with my first camp the watertiffies decided to make sure the water was disinfected...
We were burping chlorine fumes!

My backpack with bladder, empty or full, goes in the cool dark cupboard. Before a ride I top it up. I may rinse if I added cool drink to the water on the previous ride.

It slows the bacteria down, but does not kill it.
