The 501 was running low on fuel again and this was the first proper tree we had seen in hours. We took refuge from the sun and started taking fuel from the DR to put in the 501. Trevor and Hannes also arrived.

The little bit of greenery around the rock with a bit of water and motion detection trap camera. There was also a little cave in the rocks closer to the tree where we parked. It took us a while to put 2 & 2 together............ I started getting nervous and it only got worse when Dwerg found that the other side of the tree where we parked was a scratching pole for a big cat and actually found a nail imbedded in the tree.

Apparently this old stone dwelling/kraal has a telephone inside....... I wasn't going to look myself as I'd already decided that a big cat was stalking me from somewhere behind the rocks or trees. We made careful calculations about the petrol we could take from the DR as it would be touch and go to get both bikes to Abu Huab Camp at Twyfelfontein.

By lunchtime I was pulling serious amps, losing concentration and riding slower and slower....... I was making silly mistakes. I was not drinking water as I should and probably dehidrated.

We stopped for a snack and a bit of a rest. When we got going, I felt rejuvenated and immediately the pace picked up.....

The DR went onto reserve a few kms before Twyfelfontein. I was running very low on fuel and we were concerned about not making it to camp. We knew that Trevor and Hannes could not be too far behind. The DR toppled over in the thick sand - Dwerg was dehydrated and taking to swearing at his ouboet who couldn't make up his mind about where we should go. Dwerg made himself comfortable in the shade and using some choice language, explained to me how imperative it was that we find beer....
