We would be taking "The Long Way Round" to Brandberg. We could see Brandberg most of the day, but it seemed we were just riding further and further away from it.

The previous afternoon at the lodge we met Werner, a Swiis traveler on his trusty DRZ400. We invited him to come chat to us at camp that evening and Hardy invited him for breakfast as well.

He was making plans to also join as at Brandberg, but he never arrived.

First 60 od kms was backtracking on the previous days' ride into Twyfelfontein. Wind was pumping again and I was struggling to find a lekker rhythm. We stopped just after the first few gnarly sections to wait for the rest.

A little bit of windy riding again. Spotted giraffe and spent some time taking pics. Trevor and Hannes arrive and we decide to wait for [member=4383]P.K.[/member] and Shane. Hannes said he passed them 1km back where they were taking toilet break

Swiss Werner ran into issues just outside the camp and never made it to Brandberg that night

Hardy, Steff and Janco took a shortcut to Brandberg. There was lots of playful banter on this trip about bike choice and reliability. The Husky took the brunt of it due to possible unreliability based on who knows what... ot:

When Janco's swing arm bolt had enough the bike had to be loaded next to the Beemer and Janco was on the bent KLR.

This provided us with ample ammunition for the banter around the fire that night.  eepwall:

Meanwhile, we had been waiting next to road for what seemed like a very long toilet break, even for 2 old toppies...... eepwall:

I turned back and found Pete and Shane fixing a flat on the DR. Back-up vehichle arrived shortly after.

After a total stop of close to an hour, we head off again.

I pick up a bit of speed and stop on an open plain to wait for Dwerg. Soon after, Dwerg and Hennie arrive but no sign of the rest. We take shelter from the wind behind the bikes and wait around for a few minutes. We wait quite a while but nobody arrives. Hennie heads back to check on the guys and Dwerg and I look for some shelter from the wind further down the track.
