About 50km north of Beaufort West, on the border of the Karoo National Park between Tafelkop and the Nuweveld Mountains lies a collection of game farms we call Oukloof. Most of these farms belong to a friend of ours. Tannie Marge's husband Flip who over a period of time bought and hand crafted this land into the jewels it is today, unfortunately died a few years ago. Instead of selling it Marge decided to continue doing what Flip set out to do. Today Oukloof boasts several hunting lodges and a fantastic campsite that can host at least 40 people.

Marge and her staff sees to it that guests enjoy their clean and well maintained facilities and you are guaranteed a fantastic time when you come over for a kuier.

The farms has more than 280km of single track mountain trails for hiking and more importantly for riding. The collection of farms also has almost 90km of Leeurivier riverbed trails that ranges from easy to extremely difficult.

There is wildlife in abundance and it is not un-common to see large herds of Kudu whilst you are in the mountains. Above Bobejaankrans we have seen several Fish Eagle nests and less than a month ago whilst driving through Oukloof we spotted a family of 12 warthogs. Yes - warthogs in the Karoo. It is difficult to explain the beauty of this place but a friend of mine once said that this place made him feel like he is in the middle of the Alldays bushveld right here in the Karoo. It is easy to agree with him taking into account the amount of Acasia trees and the wildlife.

We ( @hartebees @Adriaan.theron @Chantal Burger and myself) will post pics after the weekend and maybe this year we can successfully put together a Wild Dogs weekend.
