Safely in Loeriesfontein after an awesome ride and day, we bought wood and booked in.  I prepared the nights meal.

[member=8100]Hingsding[/member] paid us a visit and it was nice to she him again.  We had a lot to catch up.  He however also had another braai on the go and left a while later.  Dankie vir die kuier Christoffel, was lekker om weer te sien en te kon gesels, ons waardeer.  Mooi loop in daai wêreld van julle en groete aan jou vroutjie.  Julle plekkie is puik en julle gasvryheid spreek boekdele.

An excellent day were ended with a meal fit for a king.

Hier vee die mense nog die strate.  :eek7:

DAY 6  Loeriesfontein to Beaufort Wes

This would be the longest day of the trip and all the way gravel.

The route is from Loeriesfontein to Calvinia, backroads to Frasersburg, more backroads down to Oukloof Pass, gravel road along the Karoo National Park to our destination for the day, Beaufort Wes.

Annemarie had a bad night and did not get a proper night’s rest.  Her ribs were a problem.  Vink was on the cautious side and decided to take the tar route.  We would meet them in Calvinia for a brekkie and then eventually in Beaufort Wes.

Before we left we took some phodies at the Windpomp museum.

The gravel road down to Calvinia was a gravel highway with some great scenery.

In Calvinia we had one of the best brekkies ever.
Vink also took Annemarie to a local Dr for a quick check on her ribs.  She indeed had some cracked ribs, so it was tar road for them.

This is how you explain an Afrikaans menu to an Englishman.  See how happy he is after he could place his order.

Then Vink made a joke with the waitress.  His order was something like this;
"One ostrich egg, one botte of rum and a loaf of bread, nothing else please."

Well, that is what he got.  :lol8:

We left Calvinia and rode some interesting back roads to Fraserburg.  The drought is however visible throughout this area and not really a nice sight to see.

The gravel road from Frasersburg to Oukloof was nice, die Pass itself was badly washed away.  They most probably had heavy rains recently.  But it was still a jol to ride through.

From there it was all decent gravel, and we were heavy on the throttle, daylight was running out.

We all arrived safely in Beaufort Wes, we booked in and had a relaxed evening around the fire.
We ordered some decent Pizza from a local restaurant.

And so another wonderful day’s riding through the Karoo came to an end.
