I approached what looked like a smallish puddle. Entered on the wrong/deep side, made  stupid mistake and when I tried to poot my right foot down to keep bike upright, I went down with bike into “deep end” of the puddle. Exhaust, motor and air intake submerged.....

We pushed the bike out of the water, opened air intake and removed soaked filter. Rocked bike back and forth in 6 th gear and the lifted the front wheel and hit started button a few times. The bike spewed water but was not starting....

Dried the filter in the sun and eventually got the bike going again. huge relief!

The ride through the forest to Mafefe camp was tricky. It consists of 9 or 10 (guessing here...) little river crossing which vary in dept, lenght and rock content. Most of the track has seen damage from recent floodsand in some spots it is a proper technical ride. I think we all toppled over at least once with our bikes on this part of the ride.
