Come to think of it, we're lucky water doesn't wash off the filteroil!
Glad to have read you changed the engine oil, I could have sworn I saw some whitish when I looked.... and I know I'm getting older but not blind yet, phew!
Water boils off quickly though, especially when it's a little and when there's no new ingress like a blown gasket or why.
Better safe than sorry is a motto I adhere to myself also, and some monies spent are worth it if only for my piece of mind, never mind if the bike notices it :lol8:
Rerig n lekker trip Canz, dankie!
+1 on Joe's braai capabilitiesBuRP said:Noneking said:Our destination on Day 1 was Joe & Ruth Holmes' Bush Boys in Tonteldoos. Joe is a legend and despite the fact that he turns 70 in a month's time, is still an avid offroad racer and adventure rider, often putting younger riders to shame on his 990!

This couple deserves a special mention: if you find yourself near Tonteldoos you could do a lot worse not booking here!
Surprising location with a special ambiance, beautiful people as hosts, wonderful home-cooking dished up, and the meat Joe braaied was memorable to the T ..... man O man it was good, genuinely special: sourced from a proper butchery, the fillet matured like only a few people can do, and flame-grilled by Joe on scorchingly hot (way TOO hot I thought, but clearly I dunno braaing!) coals of a 'tasty' wood specifically choosen for this purpose!
Certain gastro-tourists would do well to stop here, you will tnank me later :thumleft: :thumleft: :thumleft:

Always a pleasure to show likeminded guys our valley..... You guys were the perfect riding companions. All very capable riders and good company around a fire as well!Amsterdam said:Canzius and Henk are from that part of the world and have ridden those areas many times before. So for them to take time and effort to show us Kaapies (plus one Pretorianer) this area is very much appreciated. This was my first time riding in that area and what a beautiful and completely different part of the world it is. As usual, photos make for great memories but they don't really show all the different facets of the ride.
Bart's air filter showed how dusty it was in places. Luckily a light drizzle on day 2 helped keep the dust down. And all that without making it into a muddy mess.
I for one am not used to riding a big adventure bike Offroad but I certainly got a lot of practice on this trip. There are a few moments that stand out: The first day on the way to Joe's mountain, being chased on a two spoor by Canzius. That was great fun. Orries is memorable as I made one mistake that nearly saw me drop my bike over the edge. I will need to attack stuff like that with more vigour in future. Riding in the mist with less than 5 meters visibility on top of a mountain, that was tricky as one wrong turn would have you wandering around for hours. Magoebaskloof, pure magic. I could go on and on. What a lekker and different experience this was.
Gents, thanks for this, looking forward to the next one.
