Namibia - again . . .

I had a wonderful relaxing afternoon on the farm with my brother.

One for the greenies amongst us - 'n groot haas.

We had some good water this year and is looking forward to a good lusern harvest.

I slept on the farm and after a late breakfast I left at around 10h00.

Stop in Williston and had coffee on the Kooperasie stoep with a good bunch of childhood friends en ooms.

Good stories; outstanding humour.

Absolutely fascinating how the farming communities of these small towns succeed in building or breaking the whole gemeenskap.

Then a very relaxing ride through parts of the Northern Cape to turn on to the tarre road just south of Kenhardt.

Petrol and Coke in Kenhardt – tyd om te ry.

Steak and bed for the evening in Upington.

Sien uit na die res. :thumleft:

Leaving Upington well-rested, the morning kicks off with a long stretch of straight and narrow white line riding north to the border.

Fuel and Coke in Askam.

And I need to top up the oil – seems as if hard white line riding always requires an extra bit of oil.

In Askham I also had this oke who tuned me at the garage: ‘Tjere menee ma dis am a moerse masjien dié.’

Another piece of hard white line riding taking me past Hakskeenpan to the border post at Rietfontein.

Die plek is wyd en oop.

An SAPS member from the Eastern Cape gave me his honest opinion about duty at the Rietfontein border post – ‘Dis’a fokke ellendige plek dié, meneer.  In die somer maakie son tjou vrek.’

From the border post to Windhoek it was gravel all the way.

I don’t think I have seen Namibia as dry as I have seen it this year.

Namibian gravel roads have a sort of magic that cannot be explained.

A stopover at the Koës Hotel always brings two factors into play.

Firstly, you need some sort of an exit strategy.  Once you sit down and the beer starts to flow it is extremely difficult to get up and walk out.

Secondly, there is always some interesting people – the kind that will tell you they know people at low places and will find you whatever you need.  And this year was no exception in this regard.

En my best phodie of the trip.

Beautiful Namib photos. This is what I was waiting for. Thank you, carry on.  :thumleft:
