Hazzard asked me if I was going to do one of my normal roundabout routes to arrive at the bash as he knows that I have the habit of stopping here and there doing sight seeing on a trip, so I plotted a scenic tour through the Rammelskop pass to Sutherland, Ouberg pass, Katbakkies pass, cedarberg, bash, Augrabies ,Boegoesberg, Craddock and finally home. This was the first time Hazzard has ridden his GSA on gravel and was soon to discover it is a little bit heavier than his XT660.He did extremely well with no offs and our bikes never gave a moments hassle over the 3900+/- kilometre trip.
First off I would like to say thanks to those that organised everything; it was great even with its small hiccup here and there. It was fantastic to see so many new faces and meet real DS riders and not keyboard jockeys that cannot ride more than 50-300km and yet make more chirps and noise than 8 year old kids at a Justin Bieber concert. >
The mixed breed of DS bikes was an awesome sight and proves that you do not get unreliable bikes anymore. The only two bike issues that I’m aware off were quickly sorted out with the input of over a hundred and ninety dogs.
My highlight was meeting all the old faces again, the Petes, Andys, Gerhards,Cockys and Kobus’s ect.
To those that missed it due to commitments, you guys and girls missed a good one thankfully there will be one next year.
Here are a few dozen photos which made the trip worth every kilometre travelled.
