Day 22 Rooidraai to Molopo Lodge
We thoroughly enjoyed out visit with our friends, but it was time to be on the road again. We also arranged with Woody 1 that we will meet them at Verneukpan.
The route is from Rooidraai to the main road, the C15 then onto the C17 to Koes, C11 to Aroab, cross the border into SA at Rietfontein and then to Molopo lodge, some 190km before Upington.
Before we start something special for JMOL.
As the sun came up, we were on the road, sorry, sand again.
Another 20km and 3 off’s before the main road.
You learn quickly to fall in style.
Inflating the tyres again. We only used the compressor to inflate and deflate the tyres. We were very lucky not to get any punctures during our trip.
Then it was on the road to Koes.
In Koes we refuelled and met Rickus. We had a chat and they were also on their way to Gobabis for the weekend. Hierdie Namibiers kan darem lekker gatskuur.
He warned me to be on the lookout for the powder patches on the road to Aroab.
Here is one of them. You will have you hands full if you hit one of these.
Some scenery on the way to Aroab.
You don’t argue with this guy. Geelslang, also known as a Cobra.
JMOL, jy word bederf vandag.
In Aroab we refuelled again and had a grub at the Wagon Wheel.
It was time to say our good bays to Namibia, we had a great time. We will be back.
Entering SA
Some pans on the way to Molopo lodge.
We spoiled ourselves and booked in a chalet, bought some of the best braaipacks imaginable. They made us braaibroodjies at R15-00 a piece and even set a table for us. They supplied the plates, knifes and forks and a casserole for the meat at no extra cost. Ice was also on the house.
