On a late afternoon in May 2012, having attended the EC bash a week earlier, I rode into the magical lil town called Clarens
Sure things have changed over the years but the magic of the place is still there
I was feeling really kak so went for a dos when I arrived there late in the afternoon only to be woken by this sight….
“Fok Mof, is dit jy….”
Kan ek julle maar nou se – hierdie perd het n DIK stert ‘by default’!!!! Dirk, jy is n ‘classic’ en moer snaaks met die se-goed!
Volgende dag was my grootste surprise by verre toe JUPITER daar opdaag – fokkit broer, persoonlik dink ek jy is n wack job!! Waa’t jou ma jou gekry? (Beste van als is dat hy Vry aand seker ook last man standing was)
We went to Paul Roux the next day – my dad’s mom was born there and my dad actually had the main part of his tertiary upbringing in this small lil town. Told him I wud update him when I actually enter the town but unfortunately piss poor planning resulted in me loosing battery power on my cell phone long before he could direct me in the right direction
Be as it may we ended up at the house of local artist Peter van Reenen (refer earlier post). What an artist and human being. All I can say is – ur different and ur brilliant!!!!!!!! (Unfortunately I didn’t have my head cam with me but I will post some limited pics )taken with my cell phone) sometime later.
The following pics were taken from the stoep of some coffee shop which I thinks is called ‘The Pink Tricycle’ owned by sxome ‘Venus ******’… There is quite some story behind this, luckily I’m just riding bikes.

Hierdie is serious befokte mense. Geen fopdossers en kakpraters maar jirre my broers, wille manne wat die vlag hoog dra.

And then we went to the weirdest display of biker fanaticism I’ve ever witness – this Wollie Wolhuter sure has a different take on life!!

We left soon after arriving as Wollie was in Lesotho. On the way back we were nearly blown away by the strong windows. Arriving back in Clarens I was met by this sight. Nice meeting you in person GG!

Laban, jy IS een serious ‘Ouman’ waarvoor ek huge respek het. Vir Draadkar, DirtyBoy, Hugh en al die ander mal fokkers – great paartie gewees en ons praat vinnig weer.

Nou dat ek julle RR gesien het van die Saterdag ry Paul Roux toe, is ek erg spyt ek is nie saam nie. Dan doen ons dit maar vlg jaar weer :ricky: En die keer dra ek my Monza baadjie as ek weer 'n winter trip doen. :eek7: ,Moer ek het koud gekry Sondag oppad huistoe.
En ek moet ook sê, dit was 'n spesiale treat om Laban te ontmoet. :3some:

Bwhahahahahahaha….you had to be there to understand what he is talking about. When I asked him what his forum name was....his answer was "I'm not so sure"........so me myself....is also not so sure if that is his real forum name but who cares....what a carachter.
Kierie I have a dog for you as well......seeing that you were the one that traveled the longest distance to the EC Bash!! :thumleft:
Anyhow…here is my story.
I had RatKas serviced and new rubber fitted at Runner so we were all ready to go. I took leave the Thursday as well….I mean honestly…..you have to get yourself mentally prepared….packing and route planning is a very important thing you know.
In the mean time I was hassling Jup to try and make a plan to get there. He pleaded consternation at the office but somehow…..I had an idea that he was talking kak…especially after I saw him lurking on the Bash fred. More of that later.
Friday
The plan was: Meet up with Cocky early morning in PTA East and seeing that he travels with a GPS and some lekker routes planned it made sense.
The new plan became: They were running late due to some issues and with me not having a planned ride ready I said to Debs…..lets gooi tar till Villiers and see how it goes from there. I have my trusted little road Altas book with me so no need to panic. But the more gravel of course…the better…I mean we couldn’t get to Clarens only riding tar……Topie would have a field day with me after the all the kak I gave him on the forum about only riding tar to a Bash.
So we gooied lekker mielies….expecting it to be very cold but it turned out to be very pleasant.

Riding along and this wheel just comes of this trekker……close call
And then try and pull him off and he just waves….thinks I’m very friendly……
Get him to stop eventually

Bikes going the other way….me flashing them to warn about the moere with the speedtrap

Stop on the bridge to take a photie…….no cars in sight….next moment it is a traffic jam…..

Then we took an awesome road from Kestell into the back of Golden Gate
And then into Clarens and 1st stop….the brewery………we are thirsty and hungry
